Pearl River drops matches against Santa Fe and Lawson State

ENTERPRISE, Ala. — The Pearl River volleyball team opened the Lurleen B. Wallace tournament Friday, dropping each of its matches. The Wildcats lost to Santa Fe 3-0 (19-25, 17-25, 23-25) to begin the day and fell to Lawson State 3-2 (17-25, 20-25, 25-8, 26-24, 14-16).

Although Pearl River (6-6 overall) fell handily in the first match of the day against Sante Fe (6-3), the Wildcats showed some fight against Lawson State (5-2). The Cougars took the first two sets of the day before PRCC unloaded in the third set to win 25-8. The Wildcats had to battle in set four, winning it 26-24 to force a decisive set five. PRCC and LSCC fought back and forth in the final set of the day but the Cougars pulled away to win it 16-14.

The Wildcats return to action Saturday at 9 a.m. against Bevill State and at 11 a.m. against Coastal Alabama South.
