Pearl River’s Miguel Hernandez honored by MACJC

POPLARVILLE, Miss. — Pearl River freshman Miguel Hernandez (Gulfport) picked up another honor Tuesday when he was named the MACJC Player of the Week. The award comes one day after Hernandez was named the Forrest Health Wildcat of the Week.

Hernandez is the second consecutive Wildcat on the men's team to be recognized after goalkeeper John Bowman (Bay St. Louis; Bay) was named both the MACJC and NJCAA Goalkeeper of the week.

Hernandez netted a goal and an assist in last week's 6-0 win over visiting East Central. He also directly contributed to another goal when he deflected a clearance attempt into the Warriors' net.

Hernandez has been on a hot streak as of late as the freshman netted a hat trick in PRCC's 4-0 win at Jones College on Sept. 14.

Hernandez currently leads Pearl River (5-0-1 overall) in goals with four.

RECEIVING VOTES

For the second week in a row, Pearl River is receiving votes in the NJCAA Top 20 Poll. The Wildcats are the only MACJC school currently receiving votes.
