Pearl River softball lands seven on All-MACCC teams

POPLARVILLE, Miss. — The Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference released its postseason awards Wednesday afternoon and seven members of the Pearl River softball team earned All-MACCC recognition following another dominant season for the Wildcats.

Ana-Grace Garcia (Baton Rouge, La.; St. Joseph's), Shania Fondren (Batesville; South Panola) and Natalee Eaves (Louisville; Choctaw Central) were named First Team All-MACCC selections. Addy Grace Alexander (Poplarville) and Kai Goodman (New Orleans, La.; John Curtis) earned Second Team honors, while Ann Elise Duncan (McComb; Brookhaven Academy) and Jaycee Holifield (Laurel; Stringer) picked up Honorable Mention recognition.

"What an honor to have seven players recognized as the top players in arguably the toughest conference in Division II JUCO," head coach Christie Meeks said. "These girls have battled day in and day out. I am honored to watch the passion and love for this sport and program through each of them. We are very proud of recognition they have received by our state."

ANA-GRACE GARCIA
Garcia emerged as Pearl River's ace throughout the season, leading the Wildcats in wins and strikeouts. The sophomore posted a 19-2 record with two saves in 27 appearances, tossing 141 1/3 innings with a 2.33 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 153 strikeouts.

SHANIA FONDREN
Fondren put together one of the most dominant offensive seasons in program history. The slugger hit .413 with a team-best and single-season program-record 27 home runs and 74 RBIs while scoring 53 runs across 50 games. 

Fondren finished the year with 39 total extra-base hits, meaning that 67-percent of her hits on the year went for extra bases. Forty-seven percent of them were home runs.

NATALEE EAVES
Eaves continued to shine in the middle of the Wildcat lineup, leading Pearl River in batting average at .441. The sophomore added eight home runs, 59 RBIs, 50 runs scored and 19 stolen bases in 49 games.

ADDY GRACE ALEXANDER
Alexander proved to be one of the top table setters in the MACCC, batting .446 across 48 contests. The freshman scored 47 runs, stole 18 bases and drove in 15 runs during the year.

KAI GOODMAN
Goodman wreaked havoc on the basepaths all season long, leading Pearl River with 33 stolen bases while batting .378 in 50 appearances. The sophomore also scored 50 runs and drove in 19 more.

ANN ELISE DUNCAN
Duncan delivered another standout year in the circle for the Wildcats, finishing 13-3 with two saves in 22 appearances. The right-hander compiled a 2.20 ERA with 123 strikeouts across 101 2/3 innings pitched.

JAYCEE HOLIFIELD
Holifield rounded out the honorees after turning in a power-filled campaign at the plate. The sophomore hit .373 with 15 home runs, 53 RBIs and 37 runs scored in 48 games.

NEXT UP
Pearl River heads to the NJCAA Division II World Series May 19-24 at Tyger River Park in Sparanburg, South Carolina. The Wildcats will open play May 20 against 12-seed Johnson County at 11 a.m. ET.
