POPLARVILLE, Miss. — The Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference announced its Players of the Week Tuesday afternoon, and No. 18 Pearl River's Ana-Grace Garcia (Baton Rouge, La.; St. Joseph's) took home Pitcher of the Week.
The award is the second of the year for Garcia, who last won it on April 8.
The right-hander was incredible in two ranked matchups against No. 7 Jones College and No. 11 Northeast. Against the Bobcats, Garcia tossed seven innings of one-run softball. She scattered three hits and two walks, punching out eight. Three days later, she threw another complete game, allowing just two runs in a victory over the Tigers. She gave up four hits and four walks but struck out six.
Garcia had a 1.50 ERA and 0.93 WHIP for the week, striking out 14 in 14 innings pitched. Her freshman season has been spectacular, holding a 14-4 record and a 2.75 ERA heading into the Region 23 Tournament. She has struck out 152 in 122 innings pitched.
