POPLARVILLE, Miss. — The Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference announced Tuesday that No. 15 Pearl River's Josey Davis (Poplarville) has been named Goalkeeper of the Week.
Davis turned in an outstanding performance for the Wildcats in matchups against then-No. 3 Holmes and then-No. 11 Jones College. The freshman opened the week with a remarkable 10 saves while allowing just one goal in Pearl River's 2-1 road victory over the Bulldogs.
Three days later, Davis tallied four more saves against Jones, conceding two goals in a hard-fought 2-1 loss. For the week, she totaled 14 saves, allowed just three goals, and posted an impressive .824 save percentage.
The local product has been a steady presence in goal all season. Through the Wildcats' first eight matches, she has allowed 12 goals while turning away 29 shots, holding a .707 save percentage and a 1.50 goals-against average.
