Pearl River soccer announces exciting fall schedule

POPLARVILLE, Miss. — The Pearl River men's and women's soccer programs have announced exciting fall schedules. The men's team will play 15 games total while hosting seven contests. The women's team has 17 games on their schedule with eight games taking place at the PRCC Soccer Complex.

MEN'S SOCCER
The PRCC men's program will look to build on the momentum gained during a historic 2021 campaign that saw it play in the NJCAA National Tournament for the first time in program history.

The Wildcats open the 2022 season with a three-match non-conference road trip. PRCC travels to Itawamba to play two matches, facing the host Aug. 26 and Mineral Area (Mo.) on Aug 27.

Pearl River closes out August with a road match at Paris Junior College (Texas) on Aug. 31.

The River opens the month of September with a three-match homestand. The first contest will pit the Wildcats against Hinds on Sept. 13. That game will be followed by Meridian on Sept. 16 and Jones on Sept. 20. After the homestand, PRCC travels for a three-match road trip. The road trip will begin at Northwest on Sept. 23 followed by contests at East Central and Southwest on Sept. 27 and Sept. 30, respectively.

Pearl River begins October at home against Itawamba on Oct. 4 and travels to Hinds on Oct. 7. The Wildcats host East Central on Oct. 11 and travel to Gulf Coast for the final away match of the regular season on Oct. 18. PRCC closes out the regular season with two home matches, hosting Copiah-Lincoln on Oct. 21 and Holmes on Oct. 25 for the team's sophomore day.

WOMEN'S SOCCER
The PRCC women's soccer team is working to improve on its second place finish in the MACCC South last season. The Wildcats finished the regular season on a 3-0-1 run and carried that momentum to the semifinals of the MACCC/Region 23 Tournament.

PRCC opens the 2022 campaign with an exhibition against East Central on Aug. 9. The Wildcats then travel to Daphne, Ala. to take on Columbia State on Aug. 20. The Wildcats host rival Gulf Coast in a non-conference match on Aug. 23 and close out August with a match against Mineral Area (Mo.) at Itawamba.

The River faces Gordon State in a neutral site game at Meridian on Sept. 3 and hosts Hinds on Sept. 13 before starting conference play.

The Wildcats open conference play with a two-match homestand against Meridian on Sept. 16 and Jones on Sept. 20.

Following the Jones contest, PRCC will spend the next three matches on the road. The Wildcats travel to Northwest on Sept. 23 followed by games at East Central and Southwest on Sept. 27 and Sept. 30, respectively.

Itawamba will make the trip to Poplarville on Oct. 4 before the Wildcats travel for their next three matches. The River travels to Hinds on Oct. 7 and takes on Oxford College of Emory in a non-conference match at East Central on Oct. 9. PRCC completes the road trip at Gulf Coast on Oct. 18.

Pearl River will complete its regular season with home contests against Copiah-Lincoln on Oct. 21 and Holmes on Oct. 25. The Holmes contest will serve as the team's Sophomore Day.

ABOUT THE WILDCATS
The men's soccer program is coming off its first-ever trip to the NJCAA National Tournament. The Wildcats finished the 2021 season with an overall record of 12-1-4 and a 9-0-1 conference record. PRCC will call on the leadership of returning Third Team NJCAA All-American Maddux Francis (Poplarville) and All-Region 23 selection Andre Nicholson (Kingston, Jamaica; Clarendon College).

The women's soccer team return All-Region 23 team member Aníta Guðmundsdóttir (Kópavogur, Iceland.; Flensborg) along with All-MACCC First Team member Emma Godfrey (Pascagoula; Resurrection Catholic) and Second Team member Sydney Spataro (Long Beach).

TICKETS
Pearl River Community College's Athletics Department is going cashless for athletics ticketing beginning with the 2022-23 academic year. Fans can purchase either single-game or season-tickets for the 2022 Wildcat soccer season. Tickets can be purchased online at PRCCAthletics.com/Tickets or fans can download the HomeTown Ticketing app to their mobile device to purchase and store their tickets.

The Wildcats will once again livestream all matches for free at PRCCMedia.com/gold. Fans who have Roku, Amazon Fire or Apple TV devices can also watch the Wildcat broadcasts by downloading the "Pearl River CC" channel from their app stores.
