POPLARVILLE, Miss. — Four players who helped lead the Pearl River men's team to a second consecutive MACJC South Division title have been honored by the league.
Landing on the All-MACJC squad were keeper John Bowman (Bay St. Louis; Bay), Dylan Picchi (Long Beach), Cooper Grafe (Kiln; Hancock) and Piper MacNeil (Sheffield, England).
ALL-MACJC SELECTIONS
Bowman proved to be one of the top keepers not only in the MACJC but also the NJCAA. The freshman keeper played like a seasoned veteran this season, posting a 9-3-1 record. His .903 save percentage was third in the country and his 0.53 goals against average was good enough for seventh.
He also turned away 65 shots and was credited with five solo shutouts and two combined shutouts. Bowman's older brother, Bo, was named to the All-MACJC squad last season as a sophomore.
Picchi was a reliable backline player for PRCC coach Drew Galant as a two-year starter. He was an effective passer to get the Wildcats in on the attack while also locking down his side of the field.
Grafe is a two-time All-MACJC selection who has been one of PRCC's most consistent and versatile players. As a freshman a year ago, Grafe helped man the midfield. This year, Grafe starred at fullback and also factored into the attack with two assists. Grafe was also selected to the MACJC All-Star squad.
MacNeil made an immediate impact for the Wildcats after coming over from England. The centerback stepped in for PRCC's graduated defenders and helped the Wildcat defense not miss a beat with his physical play and leadership.
