PHILADELPHIA, Miss. — Pearl River men's golf wrapped up competition Tuesday at the Chris Clark Invitational, finishing 9th overall after posting a 58-over-par across two rounds at The Dancing Rabbit Golf Club.
Jeremiah Cochran (Gautier; Covenant Christian Academy) led the Wildcats with a team-best opening round of 1-over-par 73. Starting on hole No. 10, Cochran birdied four of his first nine holes to pace Pearl River in the first round. On the front nine, he added eight pars to close out the round.
In the second round, Cochran added birdies on the fourth hole and the par-3 16th. With 11 pars on the day, he finished with a 78. His two-round total of 7-over-par was good for a top-10 finish, placing seventh overall with six birdies.
Riley Barnett (Lakeville, Minn.; Lakeville South) was next for Pearl River, carding an 82 in the opening round. His day began with a birdie on the first hole, and he added two more over the final nine holes.
Barnett recorded two more birdies in the second round, bringing his two-day total to five — tied for the ninth-most in the tournament. He finished the round at 6-over-par, giving him a two-day total of 16-over-par and a tie for 31st place.
Seth Tubb (Hattiesburg; Presbyterian Christian) also finished the tournament at 16-over-par, tying Barnett for 31st. Tubb opened with an 80 in the first round after shooting 2-over through his first nine holes. In the second round, he matched his opening score, highlighted by a four on the par-5 second hole.
William Dickerson (Gautier) was the fourth Wildcat on the leaderboard and one of four Pearl River golfers to birdie the first hole they played in the tournament. Dickerson recorded nine pars on his way to an opening-round 81. In the second round, he birdied No. 15, part of a three-hole stretch from Nos. 13-15, where he played 1-under-par.
Lucas Johnson (Long Beach) finished tied with Dickerson on the final leaderboard at 20-over-par for the tournament. Johnson recorded one birdie in the first round, a 2 on the par-3 16th hole, helping him post an 82. In the second round, he birdied the second hole and finished with an 83 to tie for 50th overall.
Rounding out the Wildcats' lineup was Bo Ashley (Purvis), who competed as an individual. Ashley birdied four of his first 10 holes in the opening round and broke 80 with a 79. He followed with an 82 in the second round to finish 40th overall.
