POPLARVILLE, Miss. — The Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference announced its Players of the Week on Tuesday, and Pearl River men's basketball freshman Christian Gilliland (Memphis, Tenn.; ABC Prep) earned the honor.
Gilliland is the Wildcats' first MACCC men's basketball Player of the Week selection of the 2025–26 season.
He received the award after leading Pearl River to a perfect 2–0 week with wins over East Central and Mississippi Delta. Gilliland averaged 25 points, 5.5 rebounds and two assists across the two games as the Wildcats defeated ECCC 90-62 and MDCC 76-65.
Against the Warriors, Gilliland poured in 28 points on 11-of-17 shooting to go along with four rebounds, two assists and two steals. He followed with 22 points, seven rebounds and one assist versus the Trojans.
Gilliland is enjoying an impressive freshman campaign, leading the MACCC in scoring at 24.1 points per game. He also ranks first in the conference in free throw percentage (91.3) and second in 3-point percentage (53.5). The Tennessee native is averaging 3.8 rebounds and 2.5 assists per contest.
