Johnathan "JJ" Johnson is in his second year at Pearl River Community College, his first as defensive coordinator. 

A dynamic recruiter who possess the attitude and character to get the most out of his players, Johnson came to PRCC as the defensive line coach after coaching at Stetson University for two seasons. While with the Hatters, Johnson coached the defensive line and served as Stetson's recruiting coordinator. Johnson's defenses ranked in the top 25 for 3rd down defense, redzone defense, turnovers gained and were second in the nation in tackles for loss one season. 

Before Johnson joined the staff at Stetson, he coached tight ends, fullbacks and assisted the offensive line at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College from 2014 through the spring of 2016. 

Prior to coaching in the MACJC, Johnson spent three seasons at his alma mater, Belhaven University, where he coached the defensive line for two years and tight ends for the third.

Johnson graduated from Belhaven with a bachelor's and master's degree in Sports Administration. Johnson played football at Belhaven from 2009 to 2011. 

Johnson graduated from Ocean Springs High School in 2009.
