POPLARVILLE, Miss. — Six Pearl River football Wildcats saw their four-year dreams come true Wednesday as part of Early Period National Signing Day.
This year's class of outgoing signees includes Louisiana Tech signee Amari Butler (Petal), Hawaii signee Zaiver Fairley (Wiggins; Stone), UNLV signee Quandarius Keyes (Laurel), Southeast Missouri signee Ja'Quaylen Love (Brandon), NC State signee A.J. Prim (Tylertown; Foley) and Midwestern State signee Tucker Smith (Poplarville).
Several more Wildcats are expected to make the four-year decisions in the coming days.
AMARI BUTLER
Butler is set to join Louisiana Tech following a standout season at Pearl River. The safety finished the year with 28 tackles, three tackles for loss, seven pass breakups and one forced fumble.
He was named an All-MACCC Honorable Mention at the end of the season.
ZAVIER FAIRLEY
Fairley leaves Mississippi for Honolulu, Hawaii, to join the Rainbow Warriors at Hawaii. Fairley started all nine games at cornerback this season, racking up 14 tackles, six pass breakups, one forced fumble and 0.5 tackles for loss.
He was an All-MACCC performer in his freshman season.
QUANDARIUS KEYES
Keyes was one of the most sought-after JUCO recruits in the country, ranking as the sixth-best cornerback on 247Sports.com's JUCO player rankings.
The sophomore chose UNLV over 20 other offers after a two-year career at Pearl River, which saw him rack up 26 total tackles, 12 pass breakups, two interceptions and one fumble recovery.
He was named First Team All-MACCC at season's end.
JA'QUAYLEN LOVE
Love started all nine games at the safety position for Pearl River in his sophomore season. He ended the year with 34 tackles, three tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and one pass breakup.
He will continue his career at Southeast Missouri.
A.J. PRIM
Prim leaves Pearl River as the 14th-ranked JUCO prospect in the country, according to 247Sports.com. He finished his sophomore season with 49 tackles, which included nine tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks. He also had one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, one interception and one defensive touchdown. Prim took home First Team All-MACCC honors at the end of the season.
The defensive lineman will move on to the ACC to play at NC State.
TUCKER SMITH
Smith was a mainstay on the field for the last two seasons for Pearl River. He started all nine games as a freshman at the tight end position before featuring in all nine games as a defensive lineman as a sophomore.
He will head to Midwestern State to help the defensive line.
