POPLARVILLE, Miss. — The National Junior College Athletic Association announced its Division II World Series bracket Tuesday afternoon and the Pearl River baseball team earned the No. 2 overall seed.
The Wildcats (50-8 overall) received a first-round bye in the tournament after winning the MACCC and the Region 23 Championship. PRCC will match up with the winner of 7-Seed Southeastern (Iowa) and 10-seed Kellogg (Mich.) on Sunday at 1 p.m.
The week-long tournament will be held at David Allen Memorial Ballpark in Enid, Oklahoma.
The Wildcats earned their World Series berth by cruising through the Region 23 Tournament. PRCC went 3-0 in the Poplarville Regional, defeating Meridian 4-2, No. 19 Gulf Coast 10-1 and Northeast 17-2. The Wildcats then won a best-of-three against No. 5 East Central, taking game one 22-1, dropping game two 6-4 and winning the finale 10-0.
Pearl River fans are invited to a public send-off for the team on Wednesday at 8:30 a.m.
ABOUT SOUTHEASTERN/KELLOGG
Located in West Burlington, Iowa, Southeastern (48-13) earned an At-Large bid into the World Series. The Blackhawks were the Region 11 Runner-up, falling to Iowa Central. SCC holds a .318 batting average, .425 on-base percentage and .459 slugging percentage through 62 games played. On the mound, the Blackhawks have a 5.27 team ERA and a team WHIP of 1.58.
Kellogg (38-13) is located in Battle Creek, Michigan, and plays in Region 12. The Bruins defeated Lansing in the tournament. The Bruins are one of the better offensive teams in the country — currently hitting .347 with a .462 on-base percentage and .512 slugging percentage. On the mound, Kellogg has a 4.88 ERA and a 1.41 WHIP.
ABOUT PEARL RIVER
The Wildcats are scattered throughout the national leaderboard in a number of offensive categories. Heading into the tournament, PRCC is 19th in average (.331), 23rd in on-base percentage (.449), 13th in slugging (.533), 12th in extra-base hits (193) and sixth in homers (71).
Where PRCC really shines is on the mound. The Wildcats are first nationally in ERA (2.49), first in runs allowed (147), first in earned runs (120), first in WHIP (1.09) fourth in K/i (11.12) and tied for 14th in walks allowed (157).

Tickets are $15 per day or $75 for an all-tournament pass. Ages 7 and under are free. Tickets can be purchased beginningat noon on Friday, May 23rd at the ballpark.
