No. 2 Pearl River's Jackson Hood named MACCC Player of the Week

POPLARVILLE, Miss. — The Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference announced its weekly award winners on Tuesday, and No. 2 Pearl River's Jackson Hood (Madison; Germantown) snatched the honor.

Hood earned the award after a dominant showing at the plate in the Poplarville Regional. The Wildcats went 3-0 to advance to the Super Regional, and Hood led the way by hitting .625 with two homers, five RBIs, three runs scored and one walk. 

Hood has had an incredible freshman season for the Wildcats. He has featured in 54 of PRCC's 55 games and has a .346 batting average, .469 on-base percentage and .608 slugging percentage. He has smacked 11 homers, five doubles and one triple, driving in 48 runs along the way. He's also drawn 25 walks and scored 46 runs to help PRCC to its incredible 48-7 record.

PREVIOUS WINNERS
The Wildcats have now won seven MACCC awards this season — four Pitcher of the Week and three Player of the Week. KK Clark (Brandon) earned two of the Pitcher of the Week awards, and Max Miller (Vancleave) and Camden Clark (Laurel, West Jones) grabbed the others. Hood joins Caston Thompson (Jayess; Brookhaven Academy) and Topher Jones (Hernando) as Player of the Week winners.
