POPLARVILLE, Miss. — Pearl River baseball's Tanner Watts (Picayune) and softball's Ana-Grace Garcia (Baton Rouge; St. Joseph's) have been named ForrestHealth Wildcats of the Week for their standout performances.
LANDON WATTS
Watts turned in an impressive week on the mound for Pearl River, making two key bullpen appearances. He earned the save against Jones and picked up the win against Northeast, combining to pitch 4 2/3 innings. He allowed just two hits and no earned runs while striking out five.
For the season, Watts has logged 24 1/3 innings and recorded 28 strikeouts. He has also earned three wins in the closer role. In MACCC play, he has pitched 6 1/3 innings and has not allowed an earned run while giving up just two hits.
ANA-GRACE GARCIA
Garcia turned in an outstanding week for the Wildcats, going 2-0 in the circle. She earned an eight-inning victory over No. 6 Jones College, striking out 10 hitters, and followed with six strikeouts against East Mississippi in a five-inning run-rule win.
For the season, Garcia has pitched 57 innings, allowing 22 earned runs for a 2.70 ERA and a 1.23 WHIP. She remains unbeaten at 7-0 and has added two saves out of the bullpen.
