POPLARVILLE, Miss. — Pearl River women's basketball coach Scotty Fletcher announced the signing of Adia Rogers on Wednesday. Rogers joins the program after spending one season at Jackson State.
"I am beyond excited for the direction of our program and the future of Lady Wildcat basketball. My staff and I were very deliberate in our recruiting efforts this spring and we really focused on adding the right players to complement our returners," Fletcher said. "One area in particular we felt the need to improve was our out of state recruiting.
"With us having a limit, we wanted to make sure we were able to identify some needs that would continue to move our program forward."
Rogers is a Milwaukee, Wisconsin, native who played a reserve role at JSU. The 6-foot guard/forward appeared in eight games last season for the 18-win Tigers, scoring two points with five rebounds and one assist.
"Adia Rogers checked all the boxes for us as a staff. She comes from a wonderful family and has a year of Division 1 basketball experience under her belt. She was part of a team that played for a championship and won 18 games at the D-1 level so she understands the commitment level it takes to play basketball and be a student athlete," Fletcher said. "She is a very versatile athlete who can play that 3/4 position for us. She came highly recommended and is exactly what we were looking to add with that last out of state scholarship.
"I think she has a very high ceiling and will be able to make a huge impact in our program and on our campus as well with her dynamic personality."
Rogers joins an incoming class that includes Leake County's Otashae Burrage, Hahnville, Louisiana's Chardeidra Madison, Moss Point's Brieanna Miller, Oak Grove's Alesha Temple, Mendenhall's Brianna Holmes and West Harrison's Allanah Turner.
