POPLARVILLE, Miss. — The Pearl River Lady Wildcats have gained two key additions with the signatures of Leake County's Otashae "Tae" Burrage and Hahnville, Louisiana's Chardeidra "Smalls" Madison, coach Scotty Fletcher announced Thursday.
Burrage and Madison will help bolster a seasoned lineup that hopes to return to both the MACJC and Region XXIII tournaments for a second straight season.
Burrage helped lead Leake County to back to back MHSAA Class 1A Final Four appearances her junior and senior year.
Her junior year she led Leake County in scoring with 23.1 points per game, which ranked third in Mississippi. She also averaged 3.5 rebounds per game and 2.9 steals per game.
Her senior season she scored 19.4 ppg, while also averaging 3.4 assists, 4.3 rebounds and five steals per game.
Burrage was named to the Region 7-1A All-District team; she was also named MVP of both the district and district tournaments.
She was also named to the 1A State Tournament team.
"Tae is a very dynamic and electric guard," Fletcher said. "She has established herself as a proven winner throughout her high school career. Coach (Chelsee) Black did a wonderful job of recruiting her and building a strong relationship with Tae.
"She is going to be a fun player to watch."
Madison will be looked upon to add length to the Lady Wildcats post game with her 6-foot-2 frame.
Her senior season at Hahnville she averaged 10.6 ppg while also averaging 7.5 rebounds and 2.8 blocks per game.
Madison helped lead Hahnville to its first 7-5A district championship in several years.
"We are beyond excited to welcome 'Smalls' to the Lady Wildcat family," Fletcher said. "Coach (Caroline) Lumpkin did a great job of identifying her early and building a great relationship with her and her family. This is a huge addition to our front line with Smalls and her 6-2 frame.
"She is very athletic and agile and complements our other signees. Smalls should be a presence inside."
Otashae and Madison will join a 2019 signing class alongside Moss Point's Brieanna Miller and Oak Grove's Alesha Temple.
