Pearl River softball sets date for home run derby

POPLARVILLE, Miss. — The Pearl River softball program will host a home run derby Oct. 25 at 5:30 p.m.

The derby will consist of each Wildcat participating in elimination rounds of 10 swings; at the end of the competition an overall champion will be crowned.

As part of the fundraiser, fans can pay $20 for 10 swings.

The Wildcats use the derby as a fundraising opportunity. Anyone who would like to donate to support the softball program can do so by calling Shana Breerwood at the Pearl River Foundation office at 601-403-1182.

The Wildcats' fall schedule has shuffled around a bit this offseason, but two dates are confirmed. PRCC will play High Intensity and Gulf Coast (Fla.) on Oct. 21 at GC.

On Oct. 28, Pearl River will visit LSU-Alexandria to play LSUA and Bossier Parish.

The Wildcats will conclude their fall on Oct. 31 at the University of Mobile, playing the host Rams plus a showcase team from Florida.
