Pearl River Soccer announces 2019 schedule

POPLARVILLE, Miss.— Pearl River Wildcat fans can now plan accordingly for the upcoming 2019 soccer. With exactly a month until the preseason opener, PRCC released its upcoming schedule Wednesday. 

The men's season will run from Aug. 12 to Oct. 18 while the women's season will run from Aug. 15 to Oct. 18 with both MACJC Tournaments set to start on Oct. 22. 

The Wildcat men's and women's teams play their home matches at their field located at the back of the PRCC Sports Complex. 

This is the first year the women's team will be led by new head coach Henrik Madsen. Madsen was hired in the spring after nine seasons as the head coach at Gulfport High, where he's fresh off leading the Admirals to back-to-back MHSAA State Championships.

EARLY EXHIBITIONS 

The men's schedule will feature an extensive exhibition slate against four-year schools, playing at William Carey at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 12, at home against West Alabama at 6 p.m. Aug. 17, and then at Mississippi College on Aug. 24.

The women will get in their preseason work Aug. 25 at Mississippi College. The times for both games in Clinton have not been finalized.

GETTING STARTED

Both teams officially start their seasons at 5 p.m. on Aug. 26 with a road trip to Hinds in Raymond. 

Pearl River then travels a state over to take on LSU-Eunice on Aug. 28, beginning at 2 p.m. 

The Wildcats then close out the month hosting Meridian on Aug. 30; the doubleheader will tip off at 5 p.m. 

The Wildcats start the month of September taking on rival Gulf Coast in Perkinson on Sept. 3, beginning at 5 p.m.

PRCC returns home to take on Southwest at 5 p.m. on Sept. 10, 

Pearl River then heads up to Ellisville to battle against rival Jones College on Sept. 13, the doubleheader will tipoff a 5 p.m. 

PRCC then hosts East Central at 5 p.m. on Sept. 17.

The Wildcats make their longest MACJC road trip on Sept. 24 for a 2 p.m. doubleheader at Itawamba.

PRCC starts its October stretch by hitting the road to take on Meridian at 5 p.m. on Oct. 1. The MCC doubleheader is the only instance in 2019 where the men's team will play first.

Pearl River opens a four-game home stretch starting with arch-rival Gulf Coast at 5 p.m. on Oct. 4.

The Wildcats then host LSU-Eunice  at 5 p.m. on Oct. 8; Southwest at 2 p.m. on Oct. 11; and rival Jones at 1 p.m. on Oct. 15.

PRCC wraps up its regular season Oct. 18 by traveling to Holmes for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
