Pearl River adds athletic wing to 20-21 roster

POPLARVILLE, Miss. — Reigning NJCAA Coach of the Year Chris Oney and his staff have bolstered their 2020-21 roster with the addition of Georgia prep standout and state champion Ra'Sean Frederick.

Frederick joins PRCC's roster after spending the fall at Core4 Prep in Atlanta.

"He's a 6-5 athlete who can play multiple positions. He should be able to help us in a lot of different ways," Oney said. "He can score on the inside, defend and make his shot."

Frederick brings a strong pedigree to PRCC. Playing in Georgia's Class 2A ranks, he helped Therrell become a perennial contender in the Peach State.

As a junior in 2018-19, Therrell claimed the GHSA 2A State Championship. For his contributions, Frederick was named to the Atlanta Journal Constitution's Atlanta/South Fulton All-Metro Second Team.

Therrell and Frederick's bid to repeat in 2019-20 came up just short in the championship game. Frederick averaged 17 points with six rebounds and two assists that season, pouring in 25 points in the title tilt. Frederick was once again honored by the AJC as part of the Class AA North squad. He was also named to the Sandy Spiel 2A All-State team and the GHSA AA Region 6 team.

247Sports.com ranked Frederick as a three-star recruit and the No. 30 prospect in Georgia. The newest Wildcat also boasted an offer from Temple.

Frederick attended Core4 Prep this semester. At the prep school, Frederick averaged 20 points, six rebounds and four assists.
