POPLARVILLE, Miss.— Softball's Mary Grace Turner (Leakesville; Greene County) and baseball's Kasey Donaldson (Gulfport; West Harrison) have been named Pearl River's Wildcats of the Month.
Monday's announcement marks the second straight month Turner has earned the honor.
A William Carey signee, Turner tore the cover off the ball in May, hitting .458 with a .536 on-base percentage and 1.250 slugging percentage. Turner, who was instrumental in PRCC hosting its first Region XXIII Tournament in program history, finished the month with four doubles, five home runs, 12 RBIs and 10 runs scored.
On the season, Turner was one of the nation's top power hitters, slugging a program record 18 homers. Turner added 48 RBIs and 16 doubles with a .397 average, .503 OBP and .975 slugging percentage. She also crossed home plate 46 times.
Donaldson finished the season strong for the Region XXIII Champion Wildcats, hitting .385 with four homers and 12 RBIs. Donaldson also boasted a .455 OBP and .692 slugging percentage over PRCC's 11 games last month.
Donaldson made the most of his freshman season, hitting .312 with 44 RBIs and 48 runs scored. Donaldson's 14 homers were tied for the 14thmost in NJCAA's Division II ranks.
